At González Byass, we understand that our commitment goes beyond producing wines and spirits. We work to reduce specific environmental impacts and create value for people through the objectives of People + Planet. Through this plan, we develop initiatives relating to climate action, natural resource management, supporting people and collaborating with communities connected to our operations.
Since our beginnings, responsibility has been at the heart of the way we do things. Today, under the People + Planet umbrella, we take a global, long-term approach and apply objectives and monitoring indicators covering climate, natural resources, people and good governance.
We integrate environmental considerations into the way we work and make decisions.

We are committed to reducing emissions and implement measures to minimise our impact. We also work to mitigate the effects of climate change on our vineyards. To achieve our objectives, we use six renewable energy sources across our wineries, advance CO₂ capture and reuse techniques through innovation programmes, promote sustainable mobility, and encourage eco-efficiency and sustainable product design.
We implement measures aimed at soil conservation and biodiversity protection in our vineyards.
We carry out initiatives aimed at supporting biodiversity conservation in selected vineyards. To this end, we apply integrated production methods and organic cultivation on certified areas, alongside water efficiency and biodiversity protection measures. We participate in projects to identify, conserve and recover native grape varieties, carry out biodiversity monitoring and conservation activities through the VIDas project, and support the continued cultivation of old vineyards through technical, financial or commercial initiatives as part of the Ángel de Viñas programme.
We consider water an essential resource for our operations.
Our aim is to reduce water consumption and improve water efficiency by optimising irrigation through techniques such as subsurface and drip irrigation. We also implement measures to reduce water consumption at certain facilities through closed-loop systems and water collection and management systems. At certain facilities, we reuse treated water for authorised purposes, such as irrigating vineyards and gardens. We also run awareness programmes for our employees.
We implement circular economy measures aimed at reducing waste and improving resource efficiency.
We promote the circular economy to reduce waste generation and encourage the recovery of 99% of this waste through its collection and management. We also explore eco-design measures to reduce the use of ancillary materials and promote circularity, while supporting innovation in these processes through participation in research programmes.

We preserve historic vineyards and the memory of those who cultivate them, so that our wine heritage may remain alive, generation after generation.
At González Byass, we believe that wine is born long before it reaches the winery: it is born in the soil, in the hands that work it, and in the vineyards that guard the memory of each region. From this conviction, Ángel de Viñas was created — a People + Planet initiative dedicated to protecting historic vineyards at risk of disappearing and ensuring that their legacy lives on.
Our commitment is to support winegrowers and families who, for decades, have upheld native grape varieties, unique landscapes and a way of understanding the vineyard deeply rooted in the territory. We recover old parcels, promote sustainable practices and give a future back to places where time, harsh conditions or abandonment threaten to erase a millenary culture.
To preserve these vineyards is to preserve identity, biodiversity and collective memory. It is to ensure that future generations can continue to enjoy wines that speak truthfully of their origin.
