Bodegas Domecq began its history in 1972, becoming the first winery to establish itself in the Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California region, with the aim of creating wines that reflect the quality, excellence and cultural richness of Mexico. The road to building this legacy, started years earlier, when Pedro Domecq and Antonio Ariza arrived in the country convinced that México had the potential to produce great wines. Ariza traveled through deserts, mountain ranges, and valleys, studying the terrains, different soils, climates and farming practices in search of the ideal place to develop a serious winemaking project. This journey revealed the immense diversity of the territory, making it clear that he had found the perfect location to bring their wine-making vision to life.
In Valle de Guadalupe, he found what he had not seen in any other region, a natural balance that promised expressive, complex wines capable of transcending borders. From its very first harvests, the winery combined knowledge, creativity and deep sensitivity to the land, consolidating iconic labels, positioning Mexican winemaking on the international stage. Since 2017, Bodegas Domecq has embraced a sustainability-focused approach, following the best practices of the other wineries within the González Byass group. This includes implementing practices that optimize the use of resources, water, and energy, respect natural cycles, and demonstrate that excellence, innovation, and environmental stewardship can coexist with the identity and richness of our country. Through experiences that inspire and wines that create meaningful connections, Domecq celebrates the diversity, culture, and history of Mexico, leaving a lasting influence in every shared moment and strengthening the story and legacy of the Guadalupe Valley.
