Sherrymaster by Tío Pepe, the first e-learning platform for the wines of Jerez

Published on

González Byass is launching the first Sherrymaster by Tío Pepe online course, the first e-learning platform geared to providing education about the story of the wines of Jerez from the vineyard to the winery, how to identify the different styles and how to serve them in a bar or restaurant. This beginner’s course is open to sherrylovers, aficionados, students of wine and hospitality, front of house managers and sommeliers, and will teach attendees the essential facts about these wines. The course content will cover both theory and practice and will include a live-streamed tasting led by the winery’s winemaker, Antonio Flores.

This initiative to educate consumers and professionals about every aspect of the wines of Jerez comprises 23 lessons split into 5 modules: “The Viticulture of Sherry wines”, “Making and ageing Sherry”, “Mixology”, “Sherry in Restaurants” and “An Introductory Tasting of the Wines of Jerez”. Each lesson includes audio-visual content delivered by members of González Byass’ team of professionals, plus downloadable support materials designed to make it simple and easy to follow the content of Sherrymaster by Tío Pepe online.

The final touch to the course will be a meeting of the digital and physical worlds in the form of a live-streamed tasting led by Antonio Flores, which will also give students the opportunity to ask any questions they might have wanted to ask during the course. Each participant will receive a set of 6 wines (Fino Tío Pepe, Amontillado Viña AB, Oloroso Alfonso, Palo Cortado Leonor, PX Néctar and Cream Solera 1847) so they can follow the Sherry master as he navigates the ocean of aromas and subtleties contained in each of the bottles. After the tasting, students will be sent a certificate issued by González Byass and signed by the winemaker.

Creating the Sherrymaster by Tío Pepe online course, which is endorsed and recommended by the Consejo Regulador de la D.O. Jerez Xeres Sherry, the Regulatory Council for the Jerez-Xérès-Sherry D.O., is a reaffirmation of González Byass’ dedication to promoting Sherry, in this instance by educating those who have felt drawn to exploring the world of these unique wines.

Fee to attend the Sherrymaster by Tío Pepe online course: 95 €
