At González Byass, we understand that our commitment goes beyond crafting wines and spirits. We firmly believe that the only way to build a future is by caring for people and protecting the planet. That is why we promote initiatives that foster environmental sustainability, social development, and the well-being of everyone who is part of our family — from the vineyards to every community we engage with.
Since our beginnings, responsibility has been at the heart of everything we do. Today, under the People + Planet framework, we work with a global and long-term vision, embracing a model of growth that is fairer, more conscious, and more respectful of the environment and all who inhabit it.
“We care for the planet we live on and the air we breathe."
We are committed to reducing emissions and take action to minimise our impact. In addition, we work to mitigate the effects of climate change in our vineyards. To achieve our goals, we use six sources of renewable energy in our wineries; we advance CO₂ capture and reuse techniques through innovation programmes, promote sustainable mobility, and drive eco-efficiency and the sustainable design of our products.”
“We care for the land we cultivate".
We are committed to protecting ecosystem life, caring for the soil and preserving its biodiversity.
To this end, we use sustainable farming techniques that minimise the use of chemicals and plant-health products, work on recovering native grape varieties at risk of extinction and research their restoration, protect biodiversity in our vineyards through the VIDas project, and support the long-term viability of the land.
“We care for water – that is, for life".
Our goal is to use only the water that is strictly necessary, optimising irrigation with techniques such as subsurface or drip systems.
We also reinforce this commitment by reducing water consumption in the wineries through closed-loop circuits and by collecting and reusing water for vineyard and garden irrigation, as well as carrying out awareness programmes for our employees.
“We drive circularity to care for the planet".
We promote a circular economy to minimise waste and ensure the revalorisation of 99% of it by collecting and reusing materials. In addition, we explore eco-design measures to reduce the use of auxiliary materials and foster circularity, and we champion innovation in these processes by taking part in research programmes.
‘We are a family, we are a team’
We are committed to ensuring the best possible working conditions for our professionals so they can grow and develop both personally and professionally. We support work–life balance, foster professional development through our internal platform GBKnowit, and promote well-being with Ifeel.
“We are rooted in the land where our vines grow and we strive to create a positive impact on the community.”
We are committed to our surroundings, supporting the well-being of the communities in which we operate. We collaborate with organisations and promote local development. We also assess the sustainability of our suppliers and support them in creating more sustainable products together, promote training and professional development, encourage quality tourism, and foster a wine culture.
Our purpose is for people to live their most precious time to the fullest – the time to enjoy and share. We develop innovative products that meet consumer needs, encourage responsible consumption, and promote transparency and information through our labels.

Sustainability is a shared journey, built on transparency and commitment. In this space, we bring together our Sustainability Reports and Impact, where we reflect the actions, achievements and progress of González Byass towards a more responsible business model — one that respects both people and the planet.
The year 2021–2022 marked a starting point in our commitment to a more sustainable future. We took the first steps in a global strategy based on climate action, circular economy principles and respect for people and the land. This report reflects that initial drive — the conviction that every action matters when it is carried out with purpose.
During 2022–2023, we strengthened our sustainability model, transforming commitments into measurable actions. We enhanced energy efficiency, responsible water management and the preservation of biodiversity. It was a year of progress and collaboration that reaffirms our understanding of sustainability: as a shared culture.
In 2023–2024, we took a further step towards fully integrating sustainability into our day-to-day operations. We made progress in decarbonisation, circular innovation and the protection of the vineyard as a natural heritage. This report highlights the achievements of a year that brings us closer to a common goal: creating a positive and lasting impact.
This report contains the non-financial information corresponding to the 2021–2022 financial year, outlining the progress made by González Byass in environmental, social and governance matters. A document that reinforces transparency and our commitment to responsible and sustainable management.

We preserve historic vineyards and the memory of those who cultivate them, so that our wine heritage may remain alive, generation after generation.
At González Byass, we believe that wine is born long before it reaches the winery: it is born in the soil, in the hands that work it, and in the vineyards that guard the memory of each region. From this conviction, Ángel de Viñas was created — a People + Planet initiative dedicated to protecting historic vineyards at risk of disappearing and ensuring that their legacy lives on.
Our commitment is to support winegrowers and families who, for decades, have upheld native grape varieties, unique landscapes and a way of understanding the vineyard deeply rooted in the territory. We recover old parcels, promote sustainable practices and give a future back to places where time, harsh conditions or abandonment threaten to erase a millenary culture.
To preserve these vineyards is to preserve identity, biodiversity and collective memory. It is to ensure that future generations can continue to enjoy wines that speak truthfully of their origin.
