González Byass arrived in Chile in mid-2016 with the acquisition of a stake in Viñedos Veramonte and Neyen Apalta Estate, from majority shareholder, Agustín Huneeus. The remaining share of the company stayed in the hands of the Rojas Family, who originally owned Neyen and had been associated with the well-known winemaker since 2012, although their principle investments have always been in other sectors.
González Byass has reached an agreement with the Rojas family to acquire both wineries, which consolidates its commitment in Chile and strengthens its vision as a global company with a broad portfolio which includes New World wines.
Viñedos Veramonte and Neyen Apalta Estate base their philosophy on organic viticulture, respect and attention to their vineyards, in addition to the flora and fauna that surround them whilst supporting local communities. These are the foundational pillars that form part of the two wineries daily routine, linked closely to González Byass’ commitment to sustainability, embodied in the company’s “5+5 Caring for the Planet” initiative. “5+5” represents the five generations of the González family that have led the company into the 21st century and the next five generations that will continue this mission, based on the work already done.
