Noé and Vilarnau Rosé Delicat awarded Gran Bacchus de Oro

Published on

The Bacchus International Wine Competition has awarded Noé Pedro Ximénez Muy Viejo V.O.R.S a Gran Bacchus de Oro (Bacchus Grand Gold medal) for the third year running.  Vilarnau Rosé Delicat also achieved the same result. An organic, Brut Reserva cava, Vilarnau Rosé Delicat carried off the competition’s top accolade in what is considered to be Spain’s leading wine world event for the first time in its history.

Produced in very limited amounts, Noé, one of González Byass’ most exclusive soleras, was one of 32 wines awarded a Gran Bacchus de Oro from amongst more than 1500 wines from all over the world that entered this year’s competition. Constancy, patience, and careful selection are the three cornerstones of the uniqueness of the Very Old V.O.R.S. Pedro Ximénez. Deep ebony in colour, the wine display aromas of fig, coffee, and spices, and is very sweet and silky on the palate.

The competition jury was comprised of wine journalists, sommeliers, winemakers, Masters of Wine and Master Sommeliers from all over the world, and the fact that Vilarnau Rosé Delicat Ecológico (Organic) was chosen for the top accolade is a recognition of its uniqueness. Following a delicate production process, the wine spends 15 months ageing in bottle. The result is a pale pink cava with great aromatic complexity that is very creamy, fresh, and elegant. This organic Reserva cava is suitable for vegans and is perfect to drink with canapés, rice and pasta dishes and creamy desserts.

The Bacchus International Wine Competition

This event, in which wines from the foremost wine-producing regions of the world are blind tasted, is a major, prestigious, independent competition that has become Spain’s main event for the world of wine. It is currently Spain’s only event to belong to VINOFED, the federation that brings together the world’s most highly regarded wine competitions. It is also recognised by the International Vine and Wine Organization (OIV) and by Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment (MAGRAMA).
