Viñas del Vero, Secastilla and Blecua are Guía Peñín champions

Published on

Viñas del Vero, Secastilla and Blecua wines have achieved excellent results in the Guía Peñín, one of Spain’s specialist publications most highly regarded by both wine trade professionals and consumers. By awarding the results it did, the guide’s tasting committee recognised the unique attributes of some of the most outstanding ambassadors of the Somontano D.O.: Viñas del Vero, Secastilla and Blecua.

The best results were the 95 points achieved by Blecua 2014, an iconic wine from the Denomination of Origin that is the result if a triple selection process: of vineyards, bunches and barrels. Secastilla 2016 also achieved an outstanding score. The wine is a faithful reflection of the terroir it comes from whilst its unique character derives from the old Garnacha vines that produce the grapes from which it is made.

More excellent scores were awarded to emblematic wines Blecua Mágnum 2013, Gran Vos de Viñas del Vero 2014, Gran Vos de Viñas del Vero Mágnum 2013, Clarión de Viñas del Vero 2016 and Clarión de Viñas del Vero Mágnum 2015, which were all awarded 92 points.

Viñas del Vero Gewürztraminer 2019 and Viñas del Vero Chardonnay 2019, both of which are exemplars of these grape varieties in Spain, again scored 91 points, as they did in the previous ranking. Completing this fine set of results is the 90 points awarded to La Miranda de Secastilla Garnacha Blanca 2018.

All the wines are available to purchase at Tienda Online de González Byass.
