In the heart of Somontano, Blecua represents the purest expression of winemaking excellence. Founded in July 2000 by Viñas del Vero, this boutique winery stands on a historic estate dating back to the 11th century, once used by French Benedictine monks as a place of retreat. The manor house, inspired by the elegance of a 19th-century Italian villa, has been carefully restored to house one of the great winemaking jewels of the Somontano Designation of Origin.
Blecua was created with a clear purpose: to craft a single premium wine that reflects the true essence of its terroir. To achieve this, a triple selection process is carried out — vineyards, grape clusters and barrels. The grapes come from eight carefully selected plots planted with varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Syrah and Merlot. Following a manual harvest and meticulous vinification, the wine is aged for 20 months in new French oak barrels, developing remarkable complexity and elegance.
The result is a deep cherry-coloured wine with intense aromas of ripe fruit, spices and toasted notes. On the palate, it stands out for its structure, balance and persistence, with smooth tannins and a long, harmonious finish. Blecua is a wine with exceptional ageing potential, evolving beautifully over time.
Recognised in numerous international competitions, Blecua has been awarded on several occasions as the best wine of the Somontano D.O. Its limited production and meticulous craftsmanship make it an essential reference for wine lovers.
Visiting Blecua winery means entering a world where tradition and innovation come together, offering a unique wine experience in a setting of singular beauty.
A complex and powerful wine, with notes of ripe fruit, chocolate, and cigar. Structured, long, and persistent. Aged for 20 months in French oak. Ideal with flavourful dishes of robust texture.
