Le Ragose, a now famous estate, is located North of Verona, in the town of Negrar (Veneto region), at the highest point of Valpolicella Classica (1,148 feet). The winery is composed of 32 hectares, 18 planted as vineyards. The altitude ranges from 250 to 400 meters.
Le Ragose was purchased in 1969 by an oenologist named Arnaldo Galli and his wife Marta. Due to the high elevation, Marta recognized the need for a separate designation for the hills to distinguish them from the valley flat land.
Marta fought for and obtained the Classico designation. Within a few years, she became one of the most influential figures in the Italian wine world, co-founding the organization “Women in Wine” and founding VinItaly. In 1990, she was elected “Wine Producer of the World” in La Morra.
At Le Ragose, respect for place, soil and tradition is fundamental. Traditional local varieties such as Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella make up the majority of the wines produced.
Le Ragose Rosso Veronese Cabernet Sauvignon is produced from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grown at 300 meters above sea level on clay soils rich in magnesium, calcium and iron. Hand-harvested in September, it ferments in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and ages for two years in Tronçais and Allier oak. Deep ruby in color, it offers aromas of cassis, dark berries, cedar and cocoa, with a structured palate and long, persistent finish.
Le Ragose Valpolicella Classico DOC is produced in the hills of Negrar, at the highest point of Valpolicella Classica. A blend led by Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella, complemented by rare local varieties, it reflects a historic vineyard heritage. Fresh red fruits, bright acidity and fine tannins define a balanced, vibrant wine, with a subtle mineral backbone and exceptional drinkability rooted in terroir.
Le Ragose Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC is crafted in the hills of Negrar using traditional Valpolicella grapes and the historic Ripasso method on Amarone lees. This process adds depth and complexity while preserving freshness and balance. Aromas of ripe black cherry, dried figs and sweet spices lead to a rich, structured palate, with mineral nuances, polished tannins and a long, persistent finish.

The wine reveals intense aromas of black cherry, cocoa, coffee and currants, with a dense, silky palate, vibrant acidity and remarkable minerality.
