Hotel Bodega Tío Pepe, the world’s first Sherry Hotel

Published on

Inspired by a centuries-old tradition of making wine and by one of the most prestigious Spanish brands in the world, this boutique hotel stands at the heart of the historical centre of Jerez, inside the González Byass Winery complex.

It is 185 years since Manuel María González founded the first Tío Pepe Solera. Today, five generations dedicated to wine later, the winery has opened the Bodega Tío Pepe Hotel, the world’s first Sherry hotel. Throughout its various spaces, restaurants and 27 bedrooms, this boutique hotel offers an experience centred on the culture of the wines and brandy of Jerez, delivered by one of Spain’s most emblematic brands of all time: Tío Pepe.

Integrated into the González Byass winery’s complex of 19th century buildings, the hotel is a refurbished building more than 150 years old formed of four houses that were originally built as homes for the winery’s workers. Surrounded by vine-covered streets and Andalusian patios, the hotel stands in a unique enclave in the city’s historical centre, opposite the Alcázar and Jerez Cathedral. History, culture and the world of wine all come together in the Bodega Tío Pepe Hotel.

The hotel features intimate, comfortable spaces. The upper terrace affords views of the impressive Cathedral and Alcázar and is where the swimming pool, a large sundeck, a chill-out area and a bar and restaurant are to be found. The Pedro Nolasco Gardens are a carefully tended green oasis, an ideal spot for pre-dinner drinks or breakfast in the sunshine and open onto one of the prettiest streets in the world, Calle Ciegos, whilst La Recachita, a calm, intimate terrace is a perfect place to relax after a day exploring Jerez. The Hotel Bodega Tío Pepe also offers modern, comfortable facilities, a fitness centre, gym and massage and wine therapy – all hand in hand with exquisite service designed to take care of every last detail and deliver an unforgettable opportunity to experience every aspect of Jerez.

The hotel’s 27 bedrooms are split between “Classic”, “Premium” and “Deluxe” rooms and three suites: the “Oloroso Alfonso y Amontillado Viña AB Junior Suite”, the “Palo Cortado Leonor Superior Junior Suite” and the “Fino Tío Pepe Presidential Suite”. Spacious, comfortable and elegantly decorated, the rooms look out over some of the prettiest and most historic corners of the city whilst offering the standard of comfort and hospitality that comes from nearly two centuries of history and tradition.

The Bodega Tío Pepe experience also features gastronomy, courtesy of several different food and wine facilities and a number of culinary styles ranging from the most traditional Andalusian flavours to cutting-edge creations.  In the “Sala La Reservada”, for breakfast, the “Restaurante Gran Bodega”, for lunch, and in the “Restaurante Villa Ricardo”, for dinner, guests can enjoy food made with high quality local ingredients paired with the aromas, subtleties and flavours of González Byass wines. There is also a space dedicated to stunning cocktails, the “Bar Solera 1847”, located between the hotel lobby and the Pedro Nolasco Gardens, whilst the “Bar Terraza La Atalaya” is the place to enjoy a magical sunset from a height.

With the world’s first Sherry Hotel, González Byass has taken another step forward in its wine tourism proposition, which offers visitors the opportunity to totally immerse themselves in the world of Jerez and get to know the wines, the history and the culture of Jerez through an experience that offers customized tours of the winery, tastings, walks around the vineyards, visits to the Historical Archive and the ancient bottle collection and culminating with a stay at the Bodega Tío Pepe Hotel.
