Pioneers in the region, this Mendoza project began in 1996 with the planting of the first vineyards in Vista Flores, Uco Valley, at the foothills of the Andes Mountain range. In its early years, the focus was on cultivating ultra-premium grapes in an area that was steadily gaining recognition. In 2002, with extensive expertise in vineyard management, Finca El Origen began crafting wines from its own vineyards, embracing a boutique concept and a single-vineyard philosophy.
Over time, the Uco Valley became one of the most celebrated wine regions in Argentina. Located in Mendoza, at the foothills of the Andes, it is considered the best region for the production of Argentina’s flagship variety Malbec. The Mendoza region was originally desert, the alluvial soil and low fertility giving balanced grapes and low yields. Combined with a continental climate with few pests allowing for naturally healthy vines.
Finca El Origen vineyard La Esperanza is located in Los Chacayes, a unique location within the Uco Valley which was given its on Geographic Indication in 2018.
Los Chacayes is located at high altitude (nearly 4000 feet) giving vibrant acidity and intense flavors to the wines produced there.
The winery strives to produce top quality wines through meticulous viticulture and manual expertise and attention to detail. The unique characteristics of the terroir, the fresh water from the Andes and the healthy vineyards ensure wines with minimal environmental impact. Authentic wines that reflect their place of origin, capturing the true essence of the Uco Valley.
The region’s unique history and terroir define Finca El Origen’s wines. So much so that the label features the sea fossil. Millions of years ago, parts of the Andes were submerged under the sea. These fossils are considered the silent witness to the origin of the Andes.
Finca El Origen’s commitment to quality, purity, and authenticity is reflected in every bottle, embodying its claim: Mountain Character.
