In the heart of Somontano, Blecua is the purest expression of winemaking excellence. Founded in July 2000 by Viñas del Vero, this boutique winery stands on a historic estate dating back to the 11th century, once used by French Benedictine monks as a retreat. The manor house, with the charm of a 19th-century Italian villa, has been restored to house one of the true oenological gems of the Somontano Designation of Origin.
Blecua was born with a clear purpose: to craft a single high-end wine that reflects the essence of the terroir. To achieve this, a triple selection process is carried out: of vineyards, grape clusters, and barrels. The grapes come from eight carefully chosen plots, cultivated with varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Syrah, and Merlot. After a manual harvest and meticulous vinification, the wine ages for 20 months in new French oak barrels, acquiring complexity and elegance.
The result is a deep cherry-coloured wine with intense aromas of ripe fruit, spices, and toasted notes. On the palate, it stands out for its structure, balance, and persistence, with smooth tannins and a long, harmonious finish. Blecua is a wine with great ageing potential, evolving favourably over time.
Recognised at numerous international competitions, Blecua has been awarded on several occasions as the best wine of the D.O. Somontano. Its limited production and meticulous winemaking make it an essential reference for wine lovers.
Visiting the Blecua winery means stepping into a world where tradition and innovation go hand in hand, offering a unique wine experience in a setting of singular beauty.
A complex and powerful wine, with notes of ripe fruit, chocolate, and cigar. Structured, long, and persistent. Aged for 20 months in French oak. Ideal with flavourful dishes of robust texture.
